Starlight Poem by KunJung Hsiao

Starlight

From distant parts of the universe
that faint light,
it said to be
the burning enthusiasm of star
tens of thousands of light-years ago,
across the dark universe
come to the present
telling the ancient past.

I don't know how many planets it has traveled,
the worlds it has seen,
the residents it has met,
and the emotions it has felt.

Is the earth unique?

History always repeats the same story,
emotions, that were driven by desires, drive conquest,
we possess everything that we want,
what we actually possess is nothing,
and forget every substance is just an instant bubble before eternal.

The ever passions and sorrows,
burning enthusiasms,
are finally hushed into silence.
what is left now?

facing the boundless universe,
infinite time,
existence is so tiny.

Oh, starlight,
Thanks for traveling time and space for meeting me,
shining my eyes to warm my heart.
Please bring my passions to the others whom I will never meet.
