Staring Into Darkness Poem by Fin Metz

Staring Into Darkness

Staring into the deep,
I wonder what I will see,
Tiny little moving shapes,
Or my little demons waiting for me.

I continue to stare into the dark,
Watching and waiting for movement,
I really need to find them,
Find the demons the devil sent.

Staring into nothingness I begin to not believe,
my eyes glance around the room,
Looking for any hint or sign,
They must be coming later i presume.

Two hours pass and I grow tired,
Waiting for them really is no fun,
I just wanted to meet them,
I guess that can't be done.

Staring into darkness once more,
No patience or hope nothing left,
Then a faint voice could be heard,
And I try to find the voice with my mind adrift.

Staring into darkness,
And only darkness,
For I have realised something,
The demons are in my head,
Along with the shapes,
And the fear.

Staring into darkness,
I hear the constant echo of whispers,
And I begin to smile,
And then my room is filled with laughter.

Staring into darkness,
Suddenly weightless,
The colours start to fade,
And then there's only darkness.
