Stand Strong, My Love Poem by Casey Gochnour

Stand Strong, My Love

Through it all, though I walk through hell,
I know I’m never alone.
You’ve taken your place, come out of your shell,
Hands coming together, knowing full well…
We couldn’t do this on our own.

Hands pass over your skin,
Unable to grab you, unable to feel.
A battle won, the battle within,
Fingers pull, dragging us to sin…
Impossible; we wield no Achilles' heel.

No weakness, no drawback, no way we can fail,
The world can do as it pleases to bring us apart,
Attempts will be worthless, they will be to no avail.
We will not derail, we will always prevail,
With our minds of steel, and fire in heart.

Heads held high, downing the gates of purgatory,
Breaking free, hand-in-hand.
Stepping into this endless story,
Confidence spilling over, wander into foreign territory.
Live together to make a stand.

This is a fight for our life,
And there’s no going back.
I can’t promise perfection, but not all strife,
The great war to keep alive my future wife…
And it looks like we’re right on track.
