Stairs Poem by Kathryn Alley

Stairs

A child I made the road I walk
with sticks and stones and sidewalk chalk
With colors and amazing flare
a child with rainbows in her hair

Teen years saw distorted views
I learned the mes of mys and yous
the road unclear before me lay
So I could walk it any day

Adulthood came and worries too
of this and that and what to do
the road forgotten in the rhyme
abandoned to the dust of time

It's funny how the roads we make
we find again for our own sake
and with each step on up we take
we feel our child who sleeps awake

So with the joy of ages past
we hold the child we were at last
and love the One we know to be
the I of you and the you of me

Good rendition of words in highly relatable piece of poetry, embellished in poetic rhyme and rhythm. Beautiful and very philosophical. Thanks for sharing Kathryn and welcome to Poemhunter.
