Staircase Ends Poem by Sean Green

Staircase Ends

Rating: 5.0

Stairs evoked are the norm
anticipated when souls explore
a common sight that deceives
when the veil is not perceived

inclines lead to other realms
with the last in the beyond
a path of safety put aside
when the leap is in the mind

leading up or plunging down
each direction demands a turn
the willingness to commit
to destinations few admit

archways in the midst
of emptiness at top of steps
ruins pretending to be plain
hiding realms at staircase ends.

A stairway beckons. Taking single steps is not beyond one's strength, but to continue takes resolve. Nagging doubts say it leads nowhere, but aspiration cannot deny the call of the unknown. // By coincidence, I posted a poem about a stairway two days ago. I invite you to read my STAIRWAY OF LEAVES.

Great poem. Image of ascending and descending stairs is so apt for meditative mind.
