Stages Of … Love Poem by J.J B. Torment

Stages Of … Love

Stages of … Love

Beginning: Burning like the sun. A volcanic eruption. Lava flowing and expanding, engulfing everything it contacts. A Pot on stove with burner on high after 10 minutes. Intense movie, edge of the seat kind. Athlete playing his/her favorite sport….passionate. Spooning at night even if uncomfortable. Parachute sailing … thrilling and alive! !

Middle: Warm day. Fall … the leaves starting to fall but some left on the trees, still pretty but can see the changes. Watching an ok tv show, its good, but wish there was something better on. At night … Sleep, separate sides of the bed most the time. Leftovers, the night after. Jogging the thousandth day in a row, good for your health, but no longer exciting. Hanging with friends instead of significant other.

End: Burned out forest, empty, barren, rotted trees. Dark night with no stars, just clouds and no moon. The winter … cold and icy. Moldy leftovers not eaten 3 weeks old. Car on blocks, isolated, abandoned and neglected by the owner, no longer road worthy. Decayed corps in a casket…. Lifeless. Demolished house … not lived in for years. A ‘b’ movie, horrible acting and can’t sit though the whole thing.

Stages of Love …. That dies! ! ! ! !
