Spring Went By So Fast Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Spring Went By So Fast

Rating: 5.0

The birds are chirping
but I only hear their muffled sing
I've wasted all of yet another Spring
The humminbird flew by me
Darted by so fast
I didn't see it's wing
And then it was gone
A dash of green life
I hoped it might linger and last
All of life is going by so fast
And I wonder if all happiness has forever past
Except for a young woman far away
Thoughts of whom, I can't and don't wish to chase away
All my life it seems I've fought and held to this dream
A dream of love, lush and green
Only a few Springtimes I likely have left to share
Precious they would be in a heart of care
I wish somehow she was here
or I was there
But I've never felt anything in life that was fair
I'm hurting today, deep inside I feel sadness and cry
And I don't really understand exactly why
But my arms know better what they wish for
And my hand know what they dream of
And my lips in lonliness with
And all might fit her like a dearskin glove
I don't think I can live many more days without love
