Spring Image Poem by Francis Duggan

Spring Image

Birds pipe their territorial melodies
On branches of the naked trees
And Winter's o'er and Summer's near
And pleasant youthful Spring is here.

And pretty little wildborn flowers
Thrive in the grass growing April showers
In rich green pastures blooming rife
At the prime of their brief so brief flower life.

The tall, stately and naked trees
Sprout new coats of Summer leaves
In less than a month they will wear
Brand new green coats of leafy hair

Spring is Season of joy and youth
When grass start growing and life take root
When wildborn bird and beast give birth
And wildborn young start life on Earth.

But bird and beast like human man
Have brief so very brief life span
Like flower of Spring they fade away
And quickly wither and decay.

Oh I love you fair youthful Spring
And all of the pleasures that you bring
And I can only hope that next year I
Will still be here to greet you Season of joy.
