Spare Change Poem by Fab Ricciardi

Spare Change

Hey Mister, got any spare change?

Pleas don’t just walk away from me,

Look into my eyes, I am not an animal,
I am human, just like you.

It’s cold outside, Christmas is approaching,
But Santa can’t hear me, nobody hears me.

Used and abused for reasons unknown,
What did I do to make Dad hate me so?

Mom would not believe me,
I could take it no more,

The street the only place,
That would open the door.

I am scared and confused,
Got nowhere else to go,

So here I am,
My story now you know.

Please don’t turn your head in shame,

An animal I am not,

I will not accept the blame,

I’m the one they all forgot.

My life is tough,
I really want it to change.

By the way, Mister,
Can you spare some change?
