Soviet Spartan Poem by Mason Maestro

Soviet Spartan

Uprooting Afghan feudalism
No opposition to the reforms
Northern provinces had outbreaks of violence
Rebellion became their nationality
The sacred Mullahs were executed
And Intelligentsia fled to safer ground
But there's a power and a red force presence
That's lurking all around

In comes the Soviet Spartan
See them cross the Khyber Pass
In comes those Soviet Spartans
Underwhelming Afghans every day

Under orders from the offices of Brezhnev
For the KGB and upper ranks
The special forces had their primary target
The Presidential Palace deep inside Kabul
It was a brisk cold dark December
Deployment of the troops were underway
Enter a myriad of Motor Rifle Divisions
And the 56th Airborne Assault Brigade

In comes the Soviet Spartan
See them cross the Khyber Pass
They've got them armored vehicles
Underwhelming Afghans every day
