Soon Poem by Paul Reed

Soon

Let us huddle together tight

As the night draws slowly in

Let us take this life we have

And hold it safely within

For between us all

Is all we have

And soon we will have to move on;

Hold my hand tightly

Until the morning is here

Until the first rays greet the hills

And the skies are clear

For between us all

Is all we have

And soon today will be the past;

Cradle me in your arms

Take my pain and soften the blows

Take this token of my love

Take this blood-red rose

For between us all

Is all we have

And soon we will be gone.
