Sonnet: Whom Do I Ask? Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Whom Do I Ask?

Should I go beg a human being, Lord,
For favors I want done for me on earth,
Or should I just believe in Maker's Word,
For, Your love only gave this splendid birth?

The God of goodness wields all power, I know;
I cannot follow Tempter's devious ways;
To idols of all kinds, I cannot bow;
God's plans for me are best in time and pace.

Should I then doubt the mighty God's design?
I ought to put my hope and trust in Him;
To whatev'r be my fate, Lord I resign;
You are the Light that goes not ever dim!

The Son of God will save my soul somehow;
I am Thine pot, You Potter made with love!
