Sonnet: The Right Way To Live Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The Right Way To Live

A Chameleon on earth one soon becomes!
The safest way to live and pass one’s days;
And quickly then amass huge money sums,
To spend one’s life in rather pleasant ways.

The man who is honest suffers a lot;
The poor woman is turned into harlot;
From pillar to post for a gowpenful,
Of food they go but can’t be deceitful.

No doubt, ’tis a hostile, horrendous world!
A sinful life imbues the soul so fast;
’Tis wise to live straight, dignity unsold;
For earthly treasures cannot for long last.

Life has much ups and downs in its journey,
However, you win or lose this tourney!
