Sonnet: Poesy Libre Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Poesy Libre

If feelings ought to emanate from heart,
And gush out like a waterfall in rains,
And words describing them become an art,
Then freedom doing it must have more lanes.

Some rules and technicalities are fine;
Ethics are good for any profession;
But words chaotic turn with excess wine;
Just leave the bard free in his expression.

Too much of editing can spoil the piece;
With excess rules, you cannot innovate;
The poet must be left to write with ease;
Each poem cannot be immaculate.

Restriction stems the creative process;
But freedom instills art with life – success.
