Sonnet: Happy Birthday Anyway! Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Happy Birthday Anyway!

Belated wishes for your birthday dear –
The first born child whose birth gave immense mirth
To parents loving, slogging, who God fear,
And proved to be the eldest sister worth!

Our childhood years are etched in memory gold;
Love, toil and strife kept harmony intact;
Life separated all and made us old,
Giving new family duties, works – a fact!

But, thorns did come en way to hurt our love!
Yet, love that parents sowed was deep indeed;
The grace of God kept us righteous somehow;
Our tribulations proved we are good seed.

Our earthly stay is fleeting rather fast;
We can’t ever forget our glorious past!
