Sonnet: God’s Expectations From Men Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: God’s Expectations From Men

Rating: 5.0

The first and best of things belong to God;
The Maker wants to test our love for Him;
God’s expectations aren’t something quite odd;
When we do so, He keeps our life more trim.

The first of harvests done must go to God,
And be it grain or fruit, this must be so;
When we do thus, God will surely reward;
To Almighty, the best of lambs must go!

Offer your first-born to the Almighty;
God blesses them and bestows special grace;
God safe-guards children earmarked specially;
Such sacrifices brighten up God’s face.

What shall we give the Giver of all things?
He is the living God and King of kings!
