Sonnet For Hocus-Potus Poem by Danny Draper

Sonnet For Hocus-Potus

The truth be told, but facts alternative
Ring deafening dog whistles beckoning,
Unleash anguish to end the normative
Merging all misconstrued with reckoning.
Populist demagogue with simple plans
Good riddance to scapegoats at stroke of pen,
Executive orders makes great again
The failed fall, their weakness let's it happen.
Fix the broken that paid such rich rewards
Under greed, one nation, all jobs outsourced,
Cheap imports brought rust belts, going forwards
Kare for elites leaves no basics debauched.
Emperors rise as people's contracts fail,
Down cast, till one day, awakened, they rail.
