Sonnet 1 Poem by Elizabeth Hipskind

Sonnet 1

Rating: 4.0

The rhythmic beating of an ocean wave,
Will bring a boat to port devoid of harm.
The tantalizing freedom will enslave;
The seemingly calm waters will disarm.
But its gentle demeanor may deceive,
Do not believe what wayward waves will say,
Shhh, whispers tides as they lazily leave.
Shhh, calls the sea, inviting you to stay.
It's calling to you, like a moth to a flame
To infinitely sail the ocean blue.
What's hiding in the deep it has no name,
But those who can resist its call are few.
The ocean holds mysterious appeal,
With hidden dangers that are very real.
