Songs Poem by Ray Hansell

Songs

If I close my eyes I can hear
Songs from my past
All the sweet melodies
Are more then just a flash

They remind me of my first love
The one I thought would last
But soon I found out the hard way
How quickly someone becomes your past

Never think anything will last forever
Because we never know
That what we have here today
Tomorrow could quickly go

But some songs can take me back
To the days of my youth
All the lies we were told
So many songs told the truth

Music made us think
About so many things
Like fighting in a war
We knew we'd never win

Songs can fill the heart with joy
As they fills your eyes with tears
The great songs last forever
As we live through the years
