Something To Think About Poem by The Poet Darkling

Something To Think About

You act so casual
While you break my heart,
Tearing me apart
Then leaving me here to fend for myself

So ruthless and cold
First giving me hope,
Then watching me grope
After putting my love back on that shelf

As if you don't know
You're my everything,
You just pull my string
And watch me do my silly little dance

And I never learn,
Keep taking the blame,
Keep playing your game
Constantly throwing myself on your lance

But those days are gone
I've made up my mind,
I'm now disinclined
To continue walking down the same route

I'm making a break
I'm standing up tall,
I'm building a wall
I'm giving you something to think about

Just what will you do
When the lines are drawn
And I'm really gone?
Would you realize then what was at stake?

Would you give a damn?
Would you even care
if I wasn't there?
Would you just find another heart to break?

So think about this
Then please let me know
If I should just go
And find a way to get on with my life

Or give you a chance
To show me you care,
And you want me there
To start living our lives as man and wife…
