Something I Can Do Poem by Evans Kissi Owusu

Something I Can Do

I was surprised this morning
that I woke up at seven

That was so unusual I must say.
At least, not on a Sunday.

To you the reason may seem clear
but that is not it, my dear.

Yes, I had to go to church early
but "early" is not the same as "very early".

While others enjoyed extra hours
I arranged tables and chairs.

Not that I have nothing in the house to do;
Not to do something for God is a taboo.

A good voice I don't have.
I sure will score less than half.

Musical instruments I can't handle.
In front of the congregation I can't read the Bible.

When it's harvest
I don't pump much into the coffers.

But if I am in good health
I won't be ungrateful and not support with my strength.
