Some Positive Advice Poem by Francis Duggan

Some Positive Advice

She had some positive advice forme
We can be anything we wish to be
Cannot say that meeting her did make my day
But at least for her advice I did not have to pay

For one like me often racked by self doubt
This gave me something for to think about
Was she trying to tell me in an indirect way
That I was a failure though this to me she did not say

Perhaps she should take her wisdom to the poor side of the town
And give her free advice to the financially down
The children of the parents of the lesser god
Who know how it feels like to be poor and down-trod

She can tell them that they too can become a success
Though with her positive words them she will not impress
The hungry, the homeless and the unemployed
The people who do not have a god on their side

With her words of wisdom they could not agree
Since they know what they wish for in life for them will never be
On their broken lives she could not plant her positive seed
And of her sort of advice they would not be in need

The good thing about her advice was that it was free
Though I wish that I could be what I wish to be
Positive words are so very easy to say
And meeting her did not bring joy to my day.
