Solstice Past Poem by Frank Avon

Solstice Past

I saw a robin
today, and one chickadee:
the rose stems still green.

In the midst of these epic visions of cosmic realities and their earthly reverberations, comes this little haiku of the delicate, the small, the fragile. The very things which teach us we too are vulnerable in our vast and violent universe. I'm enjoying the visual range of these with my NEW EYES. Two cataract surgeries this month have improved my eyesight but the recovery is taking longer than expected. Despite my physical limitations due to blurred vision, your poems are giving me the visionary reality arching over things, which will still be there when my vision clears!
