Sobs.. Poem by Lakshmi Karat

How I heard those sobs, none was sad,
All faces were cheerful and bright.
From some unknown place, an unheard voice,
Who is trying to have me along..
Is it from the heart of my beloved one?
Sitting next to me and caressing my hair.
Is it from the joyful eyes of my friend?
Who is tearing out some clicking jokes?
Is it the flower fresh from the garden?
Or the betrayed clouds all around.
Sneezing sky or drenched trees..
Or may the whistling naughty breeze
Neither it could be from my doll
Nor it could be my yummy dish.
Slowly I felt my fingers wet…
Alas it is my words I wrote they were
Sobbing with a husky voice..
