So Many Whispers Poem by Julia Chaos

So Many Whispers

My bleeding eyes only see darkness
Through the tainted glass that twists everything
He's telling me to join him in that mystery place
but you're stopping me, whispering in my ear
Don't cross that line, you'll never be able to come back
but how can I be sure you won't leave me
and I'll be looking once more through this fragile window
that separates me so little from death
you won't be there to stop his whispering*
*come my precious, come jump, fly and sleep eternally in my bed...

This is an intense poem. I should be working, writing two tests for Friday and a final exam. Instead, I am reading and rereading your poem. Death seems to be personified in this poem as a whisperer waiting in the wings who will seduce you into the bed of eternal sleep if you dare risk trusting a would be lover and find disappointment instead.
