So Many Does Tell You Poem by Francis Duggan

So Many Does Tell You

So many does tell you that you are the best
That you are far better than all of the rest
Praise it does go to the praised one's head
Whoever first said this a truism said
At what you do you may be the best in the town
And enjoying your status of local renown
But you fail to realize that you may not have to travel far
To find one who is better doing at what you are good at doing are
Some people with their successes get carried away
But the hero of the past is not the hero of today
The humble of mind to say the least few
And this is not saying anything that is new
And though you may think you are the best at what you do
You fail to realize there is always one better than you.
