Snow Fall Poem by Orlando De Los Santos

Snow Fall

As I watch the snow fall on the streets
The white fluff covering every inch of turf
Like frosting on a cake
I listen to hear your voice
Lost in the wind
A plea for help

The snow
Innocent and pure
Untainted by human society
Is in a way like you
You came in a blur like this beautiful storm
My heart raging a lover’s fate
With your voice cooling it to a crisp
Like a hot sword dipped in ice

As I watch the snow all on the streets
I imagine us
Embraced in one another’s arms
Like the limbs of a fallen tree
Lips interlocked like stone on ice
Sharing what little warmth we have
And whispering to each other
“Let’s go inside”
For hot chocolate and movies
Under warm bed sheets
Sharing secrets like lover’s at the park

As I think of you
I watch the snow fall
And listen for your voice
Like a cry for
Help
Lost in the wind
