Snapshot (Memory) Poem by Tina Dang

Snapshot (Memory)

These past few days have turned into weeks
It’s been so long that I am afraid to even speak
Everything that seemed right at the time turned out wrong
I keep replaying every moment through my mind wishing that we had all gotten along
Emotions are tugged by our heart strings taking us left and right, and in the end we go in circles
Just like how I would talk on forever and never get to a point, in which I once thought I had
There’s nothing left to say anymore, at times running empty with nothing left to give or so much to give but no one to give to.
Most of the time people realise things way too late and things that were said weren’t meant to be said or heard. Things said were not taken into proper context and the individual gets misunderstood.
But never should there be an excuse as good as it could be, it doesn’t matter. Nothing matters in a moment of ones vulnerability and helplessness.
You seek everywhere for strength for the perseverance that will drive you to live on another day through any pain that you endure.
A light dawns on you and the answer is so clear, yet all along it has been ignored and a different path was chosen.
In the end, you wonder why you go round and round in circles, it’s because the world can’t stop and wait for you to get things right the first time. The world goes round and we must keep going and move on for it’s another day and another chance to make another mistake and maybe eventually learn from it.
After awhile everything said and heard means absolutely nothing when they are just words.
Many words used one too many times like ‘sorry’ can’t seem to fix the problem that lies ahead of you. Yes, actions speak louder than words, but sometimes actions can be misinterpreted therefore you have words to translate them for instance subtitled movies. Actions and words must coincide just like individuals in any relationship must work together and keep an open line of communication, to maintain cohesiveness.
We should all know to hold on to the person we care about when they are there and never let them slip away, but if they do just learn to let go because it wasn’t meant to be. But even when you let go, you still hold on, only to cherish and treasure the memories of what use to be us, you and me. Time will soon pass by, years have come and gone but you are still there. My mind and eyes are like a camera lens, every moment is a snapshot memory saved on a chip and doesn’t get erased only more will be taken, saved and stored away. Everyone is left with a choice to hit that delet button and erase everything but even so, memory is backed up somewhere and it’s only gone temporarily. In other words, I’ll never forget you, you are that memorable snapshot framed in my thoughts and soul. If we never speak again or see one another I know everything will be ok. I will always have that picture that keeps me close to you, “A photo speaks a thousand words. Take a picture and it will last longer....forever.”

Sincerely from my heart,
