Slipping In The Rain Poem by Steven Holmes

Slipping In The Rain

The world lacks it's brilliant hue,
Love like grains of sand,
Leaves me blind while losing you,
Slowly between the fingers of my hand.

I loved you and you loved me,
Should've held you strong and tight,
I dream of how we used to be,
With forever within our sight.

Feel like I've been left to drown,
Hope life doesn't flash before your eyes,
The pitiful survival of a drunken clown,
When he's not drinking dreams of demise.

Sometimes I sit alone at night,
Fill my cup to cut the pain,
Take a drink and feel it's bitter bite,
There's no footing when you're slipping in the rain.

Words cannot describe the pain I feel,
My heart in perpetual spasm,
I'll drink till my sickness comes to heel,
And band-aid a bottomless chasm...
