Slipped On Poetry Poem by Leslie Alexis

Slipped On Poetry

I stepped in it, a couple summers ago.
It’s was slippery… I stepped… I slipped… I fell.

I fell in it, a couple summers ago
And went down, back upon the floor,
Eye towards the sky. And right here I lie.

It was seen – my fall - By friends and passers-by
Some listened to my cry, some just passed me by
All the while on the floor I did lie. And there I stay
To this very day, For I fell… slipped… stepped
In verbal glue… I cannot get up, Because it is not true.
Water cannot break its bonds. Fire cannot melt it away.
Oil cannot embrace it. It cannot be undone.
It stretches beyond the universe, and holds,
seeps into the skin and heart, and lays hold.
Once in it, you’re in it. And I fell in it! #poetry
