Sitting Under Glistening Stars Poem by Lola Romero

Sitting Under Glistening Stars

looking into the distant sky
wondering where, how and why,
the stars above they shine so bright
twinkling reminders of sweet candle light

walking on cold grass and stone,
coupled by hunger, heart timid, alone,
she stumbles through the tortured weeds,
ignoring all her desperate needs,
and still the cool mist comforts her,
the blanketing sorrow sorrounding her,
the stars are falling out of the sky like rain or snow,
dazzling as they melt in the air,
putting on quite a show,
she stares in awe as the heavens collapse,
and tighter the blanket around her she wraps,
she sits and thinks huddled in the dark,
murmering softly to herself as distant dogs bark
she is so alone but never afraid,
of the shadows her huddled figure there made,
and as she layed down upon the soft earth,
still staring around at heavens re-birth
