Silent Screams. Poem by Joseph Vitek

Silent Screams.

Silent screams originating from a mute voice.
Inaudible yelling inside a cracking glass house,
Violently echoing back and forth with an
Octave strong enough to shatter the foundation.

Blasphemies bitterly shouted,
Completely inaudible to all but one.
Yet the tension it creates offends
The person they were intending to scold.

Silence only intensifies the voiceless shouting.
Turning up the heat to a boiling pot of emotions.
Pushing it to the brink of overflowing and ensuring
Someone outside of it will get burned.

The absence of a particular string of words
Is causing this intangible argument,
Making it even harder to accept the
Notion at face value.
And creating even more reasons for the sentence…
“I am sorry”.
