Silence Poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen

Silence

Rating: 4.5

The heart longs for silence-
a break from the staccato of chaos
in the murmering violence,
sobbing and screamings
many corners in our one world.

Away from human madness
that seeks to kill and destroy
the others, and laughs at the
sight of blood and deaths
of the fallen innocents.

The heart longs for silence
in the pulse of love
wanting only to embrace
and reach out those who are
are crying and dying…

For it is in silence
that one can go deeper
into the source of love
that is greater than pain,
human madness and violence.
