Silence Poem by connie crane

Silence

Sitting quietly in the stillness,
Silence, the only companion in my solitude,
I savor the sound of Your voice,
As quiet as the sound of my heart beat in my ears.

In between my breathes you speak.
I hold my breath and listen.
You do not beckon.
You do not hasten.
You wait and I become subdued in You.
Then I am waiting too.

As silently I wait,
I discover a delicious expectation.
I relax into the feeling of knowing You are near,
But not yet speaking.

Silence is golden in the proximity of One,
Whose presence speaks louder than words.
