Sideshow Poem by William Kruse

Sideshow

Rating: 5.0

The carnival barker cried, 'Step right up, folks!
The most stupendous show of the midway!
He tries to work and cannot think;
he tries to think and cannot work.
One thin dime buys your ticket;
see the man who can not succeed!
Not only does he 'not win 'em all',
he doesn't win 'em AT all!
The most hilarious show in town,
and all for one thin dime! '
I bought my ticket
and entered a hall of mirrors.

Nicely done. It's what I look for in a poem; humor, a surprise ending and a bit of self-reflection. -chuck
