Should Have Known Poem by Brooke Ashlyn

Should Have Known

Why wasn't I good enough for you?
Why were you never there
Now you tell me the things I say aren't true
Did you forget that I'm your daughter
Did you forget that I was there too
It was my future that you slaughtered
You said that I disgusted you
I was the only one that knew
The only one that saw the real you
No one believed me when I told them of the monster you are
They told me you were different now then you were before
But you just left another scar
You just tore and tore
You broke me down as a person
I didn’t see how a situation like this could worsen
It was my mistake for trusting you
I knew you could never be true
I wanted to believe that you could be the father I never knew
I should have know better
I should have never written you that letter
You said you wouldn’t ever make me cry
But you didn’t even try
