Shelby Poem by Lumvouris Webb

As I write my poem
My heart jumps with joy
For it knows I write this poem
With the joy of a little boy

I write for Shelby
My friend across the way
For although she may not be wealthy
I like her in a special way

Not like a friend
Not like a sister
But more like one to whom my heart can unbend
Or someone to help me forget when I last kissed 'her'

I cannot say why I feel this way
But how can my mind mean what my heart wants so badly to say?
When in my life my heart has been broken to a point that it never stirres
So how am I to put into word the joy I get from her? ?

Shelby ohh Shelby my friend and yet my foe
For what I feel may not be the same as you
And if thats true then my feelings may only grow
And if that happen I wonder what you will do

Will you leave me alone
And hate me for this?
Or will there be a delightful twist
And you tell me you've writtin in ur tome

That you feel as I do and wish to be together
About how I should have spoken sooner
And that your parents have failed in their efforts
To keep us apart by sending your grandparents old tomb

But what am I thinking
wishing that you feel for me
I should see the red light blinking
Sayin that it is not you with whom I wish to be

But I like you too much to see you get hurt
By some one at school
Like the little one we all call squirts
Or the ones who act like fools

Shelby, I write this for you
My friend across the way
I hope you know me feelings are true
Thats all I have left to say
