As she glanced through the old family album,
one picture showed her youth is all but over!
She wanted to rip and tear it apart
as a torment of questions kept nagging at her!
Did she deliberately try to destory it,
that face of granite, cracked and scarred by his volcanic heart?
Who would believe it to see her now
that she was a girl of tender bloom and a dazzle of wildfire?
Who would believe it to recognize her now
that she had an unripe grace and a naked eloquent glance?
Who could imagine the imperceptible stages of her life
from her madcap then to this staid respectable now?
Has time tamed her or despoiled her splendor?
As she blazed out with the nimbus of youth,
the limber liquid gait and the incandescent air,
she smiled a known smile.
She was more than a middle-aged ruin!
She was a mother! !
A mother of two beautiful girls! ! !
Great poem. A nostalgic moment marred by pessimism is overcome by positive approach towards life. Each stage in life has its charm. Thanks for sharing.
