Share The Spotlight

You swept me off my feet,
Promised me everything under the sun.
I fell so quickly & deeply in love,
But I never slowed down to think.

To get you, my prince,
I was willing to pull back on my life,
To let you lead yours through mine,
But I forgot about myself.

We made so many plans,
In them, you were at the top of your dreams,
While I was at the bottom of mine,
That was our future & I was okay with that.

I sat back as a benchwarmer,
Sitting on the sidelines of our lives.
Yet you were the major leaguer,
Hitting all the home runs for the team.

I dropped all of my hopes & dreams for you,
'Cause it meant being with my prince.
I put them inside a tiny drawer;
Today I opened it and remembered the passion I once felt.

My hopes & dreams flew around me like butterflies,
Filled me with happiness & joy again.
I forgot about myself with all this hype of being in love,
I forgot of my morals & beliefs.

I look back now;
I sacrificed so much for us.
You never sacrificed a thing,
It was all me.

I forgot about myself in the beginning,
But I found myself today.
I'm not going to be a benchwarmer in this game anymore,
I'm going to share the spotlight with you baby or no deal.
