Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer's Day... Poem by Franz Velasco

Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer's Day...

Rating: 5.0

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day…

Oh dear, are you even comparable?
With hair finer than the rays of the sun,
No poet, with the gift of tongue is able;
To capture such beauty, it can't be done.
With your kind eyes and smile, you shine brighter;
No desirable season could compare.
Nothing exists in nature is better.
For me nothing else matters, only for you I care.
Though like a summer's day, you cannot stay,
(Can you come back please, please by my side stay!)
When all seasons end, I will wait for that day.
(I'll wait for summer, the moment we'll be together, I'll wait for that day!)

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I thought of adapting each line from Shakespeare's Sonnet 18 to its own sonnet. For each line, a story. And as I write this poem, I thought of the story/plot of the anime, titled 'Your Lie in April.' To the readers who have watched the anime or have read the manga, you'll understand how this is related (hopefully) .
