Shaded Obscurities Poem by James Walter Orr

Shaded Obscurities

A wood nymph now dwells in a land of high mountains,
closed off from the world by invisible walls.
Springs gush from the snow covered peaks in sweet fountains
and leap from the heights in sublime waterfalls.

There, apples grow wild on the sides of the highways
and in wild profusion the flowers still bloom.
Aromas they leave stamp their print on life's byways
with fragrant and sensually stirring perfume.

The miles place a filter that warps to distortion
the words that the flowers are trying to say.
Oh, would that they carried, in proper proportion,
to keep all the demons that haunt me at bay.

North-west of the sunset is found the foundation
that nurtures the source of the pull that I feel.
The darkness that walls me in strict isolation
has sealed off a heart-ache that never will heal.

The sun that goes down on each day as it passes,
will set on each life, when the day fails to break.
It adds the last day to the time that amasses,
providing the balm that will cure a heart's ache.
