Shade Destitute Unrequited Love Poem by Terence George Craddock

Shade Destitute Unrequited Love

unrequited love is a tragedy
discarded unwrapped unopened
a dejected Valentines Day gift

heart-shaped helium balloons
in a black red love checkered
background pattern delights

sprinkled with small red
purple happy love hearts
unrequited love is not

unrequited love embraces
no big Happy Valentines Day letters
unrequited love tortures

it is an iron maiden piercing
an iron cabinet tomb hinged front
waiting spike-covered interior

enters a shade love forlorn
figure shut within metaphorical
coffin death unrequited love

a tight wooden box confined
forced to stand fall heart spiked
sharpest nails pierce all sides

cannot lean in any direction
without being love lost pierced
unrequited love is a tragedy

a dark tragedy
love lost encounters
where is escape

unrequited love is a waste
dejected Valentines Day gift
thrown into a dirty waste

disposal dumper
rejected without forgiveness
compromise or remorse

a destitute unrequited love
