Several Months Poem by DAVID TERRY

It’s been several months now
We are not as we once were
I don’t know how you are feeling now
And I have changed, more quiet and sure

Yet still I look at your photos
Living now in memories
And I wonder what you are thinking
And if you ever think of me

Because I think of you quite often
When I feel wind or hear that song
I think of how you made me feel
And were the love of my life ere long

Your blue eyes shine from lifeless pictures
As always, they pierced my soul
I wish I could see them yet once more
To recapture the feel and love of old

Several months gone past with more to come
Coming weeks will add eventually to years
I do not know if ever I’ll love someone
The way I loved you and your heart dear

I wish there were some way to go back
To recapture what we shared those years ago
I wish in vain for one more day as I reflect
On what we lost when you with him did go

Yet even now if I saw you again
I wouldn’t care, it would not matter at all
For if you told me yet “of course I love you”
For you I would gladly once again fall
