I Don'T Know Poem by DAVID TERRY

I Don'T Know

I don’t know how to fill the place in my heart
The place that is empty now that you’re gone
Because now that you’re gone I feel empty inside
Empty inside because I’m without your love
And without your love I feel cold and alone
Cold and alone when I fear that most of all
Yet most of all I actually fear being without you
Being without you for the rest of my life
The rest of my life will be a little less bright now
Less bright now because I will miss your light
I will miss your light that lit up all my days
All my days and all my nights
All my nights I’ve spent dreaming of you
And dreaming of you is the most pleasant thing to do
But the thing to do now is move on I guess
I guess, now that we’ve said our words
Our words of anger, revenge and hurt
Revenge and hurt are petty and small
I feel small for saying them and wonder if you do
I wonder if you do feel the same as I do
As I do without you every day since we parted
Since we parted such a short time ago
Such a short time ago I bade your love goodbye
I bade your love goodbye and now
And now I don’t know how to fill the place in my heart
The place in my heart where once lived your good love
