Settled Acceptance Poem by Pondering Portrait

Settled Acceptance

A shimmering light
A rippling surface
A subtle change
Apparent
But hardly felt

A piercing truth
Past an armour of denial
An unaware surprise
The result of
A stricken conscious

A prying interference
That burrows beyond
Nestling within me
A fear
In my crevice of safety

A patient loss
An angry peace
Foreign, yet familiar
Incomprehensible
Now, a settled acceptance
