Senses Poem by Shannon ...

Senses

The smell of pine trees, sawdust, coffee, bacon, love
The sound of a rusty chain on a front porch swing, creaky screen door, footsteps on a hardwood floor, leaky faucet, love
The feel of a summer breeze, warm hug, soft touch, hand stitched quilt, love
The sight of a foot pedal sewing machine, cob webs, large print Reader’s Digest, peeling paint, love
The taste of fresh picked figs, country gravy, peppermint, rain, love

The smell of snuff, musty cloths, lye soap, mentholatum, fear
The sound of heavy breathing, pounding heart, rustling cloths, whispering, fear
The feel of cold hands, warm tears, crawling skin, chills, fear
The sight of darkness, shadows, blackness, nothingness, fear
The taste of sweat, old lips, confusion, illusion, fear

The smell of, the sound of, the feel of, the sight of, the taste of…………

Forgiveness

The senses of completeness

This is a wonderful piece of writing. It reminds me of a couple of my poems. LIFE'S COMPANION and LOVE . I like the line closings of 'love' and 'fear.' And I especially liked the end word of 'Forgiveness.' That word ties it all together. This writing may be hard for some to understand. I wouldn't understand it either if the end line words weren't there. They make all understanding possible. GW62
