Selfless Poem by Marcus Cosgrove

Selfless

And we thought it was funny
And we thought it was cool
And we wanted the money
Well I guess we were fools

And we finally found out
It was a lesson we learned
That it isn't just about
All the cash that we'd earned

There is more to this journey
Than courting fortune and fame
And the sadness it can bring
Well we know what to blame

Think of things so important
Think of things with no cost
Think of things full of value
What if all that was lost

It's like the smile of your first born
Or the kiss of your Muse
Or a laugh with a good friend
These are things you can't loose

They're what keep it together
Man through all the hard miles
And though you can't change the weather
Things can still make you smile

So take a stock of your own mind
And consider this view
It is not really that cool
To just think of you

So consider the people
Who make you feel good inside
And you know that it is true
From yourself you can t hide

For its you who will judge you
When all the good things aren't here
And what are your options
When there's nothing but fear
