Secrets Of Earth Poem by Andrew Rose

Echoing chasms,
long forgotten,
left to the ghostly wail of time,
secrets left there tended long ago,
whispers seeping through to the tales
of children and men,

Whispers of fire,
blood
and stone,
Ancient wisdom and
the unknown arcane,

True kings once ruled this earth,
a reign of fire
and wisdom at their command,
delivering us to ages untold,
glory and wealth was ours,
but we were bold,

Shining Soldiers,
our wise kings guard,
turned on their leaders,
listening to heads
never to hearts,

A hideous day
of betrayal and sin,
our kings,
thwarted from within,

As they fled,
a curse screeched their lips,
humans doomed to betray
as long as they lived,

Cities fell,
the reign was gone,
all we were left with,
was cinders and smog,

Flame and Scale,
lays below this cursed earth,
they've fallen to legend,
to the worlds of our minds,

One day they'll stop dreaming,
the secrets kindled again,
burning,
alive...
