Searching For Eve Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Searching For Eve

This is a very frantic search for Eve
She has secretly left the beautiful garden
Enticed out into the forests by the great serpent
At the outskirts of the beautiful garden
We run through the swamps, creeks and thick bushes
We swim the streams, rivers and sail the seas and oceans
Our search takes us through the deserts, savannah grassland and even the dried cracked natural landscapes
We have to stop it from happening
She must not be deceived by the great serpent
Our search must not be distracted
By the other beautiful creatures outside the beautiful garden
There is no time to waste on frivolities
But we cannot find her where we suspected
We have been searching the wrong places
We have strayed far too beyond
She was under a special apple tree inside the beautiful garden
Very well hidden away from our search
The great serpent had given her the fruit; the apple
She has had her first blood
She has even given Adam the fruit
Both have now seen and known the truth
Now, they will bear the fruit.
