Scorned Love Poem by Subhojit Kar

Scorned Love

Rating: 4.5

Thanks a lot
for the pain
you inflicted on me
for it gave me
so many of my poems.

When you were melting
in my embrace,
when i was playing
with your hairs on my palms,
when i was drinking honey
from your magical lips- -
you were a bottle of heavenly wine
i was too busy drinking to the lees.

So intoxicated was i
that i didn't even notice
when the drink
had got laced with poison.

When i noticed,
it was too late;
my whole body
turned blue with venom.
You had nicked me
real bad
and then drifted out
of my life
and i was left
licking my wounds
while the poison
clogged my veins
leaving me numb
with terror and pain.

Now that you are gone so long
your memory sings blues
in my brain;
now there's only a faint trace
of your poison
in my blood;
my heart bled white
with the tears I had shed- -
the poisoned blood
flowed through my pen
and i scribbled on and on
filling the blank page of time
with the testament of love
that you spurned and scorned
so royally.
